Single Malt Whisky is a  clear front runner amongst the whisky fraternity and there are hundreds of brands with the bulk being from the Island of Islay and the Speyside region of Scotland. Each brand has its own characteristics similar to those of wine varieties. I have secured the services of a lover of single malts, and a good Scot to boot, who is willing to put on a whisky tasting event at the Shed on March 20, but we need to confirm the number of attendees so that the ecomonics stack up - please book asap! The expectation would be for 6 whiskys to be tasted and descriptions given to educate your palate. This is another chance for non-Shed Members (of any sex) to learn the basics about tools and home maintenance, etc. The course will run over three consecutive Friday afternoons from August 23, 2024 ending on September 6, timed from 1 pm to 4pm, and will broadly encompass the following subjects (others might be included on request): Basic description of "handyman" tools & their uses including hands-on experience. Fillers, Paintwork repairs, Doors & Hinges, Locks, Hanging Paintings, Plumbing, Roof & Guttering, Windows, Basic Reticulation. Simple Electrical queries; Tiling, Wood Finishes. The cost of the course is $90.00 per person which includes afternoon tea on each of the three afternoons and covers any materials used. You can book for a friend but must make a separate booking for each attendee (preferably in their name!). NB: Payment is by Credit Card via Stripe - no card payment details are held by MPMS.
