Jobs We Undertake

Since opening in 2012, the Shed has completed a range of jobs for individuals, Schools and local Community Groups. The interest in undertaking these projects is multi-faceted:

Provides an income to help cover Shed expenses;
Provides a cost effective service that may not be available elsewhere;
Helps to educate interested Shed members under supervised conditions in skills for different tasks

Our Customers are varied, from local residents to Schools and Theatre Groups, other Charitable Organisations, Sporting Clubs and even (to a small degree) local businesses.

Some of the tasks undertaken over the years have included:

WOODWORK

  • Repair all sorts of furniture and cabinetry
  • Build Mahjong boards
  • Construct sets for Community Theatre Groups
  • Make & repair various Rocking Horses
  • Construct frames for artwork and bases for plaques, etc.
  • Produce nesting boxes for various birds and even bees!
  • Build side-tables for bridge clubs

METALWORK

  • Repair Trailers
  • Construct Bicycle Racks
  • Construct steel frames for shelving and other purposes
  •  Construct trailer frames for varying uses
  • Repairs to metal Household items
  • Assemble wheelbarrows for a retailer (on-going project)
  • Build steel bases for Lobster pots

We don’t seek to compete with local trades people and normally do not undertake work outside the Shed boundaries, but are happy to “have a look” at anything that can be brought in. So our scope includes:

  • Repairs to furniture and metal items around the home;
  • Wood or metal projects in the range of 50 to 100 hours work;
  • Jobs for Schools and Community Groups.

Quotations can be provided in most circumstances that will include a contribution to Shed revenues.
